I haven't posted in a while so I want to apologize to you, my fan base, for leaving you in the dark on our progress.
My parents came over on the 20th and Mike and my dad installed the base cabinets. It seemed that this took a bit longer than the wall cabinets. There was more time needed on the peninsula to make sure it was secured to the floor.
So over the next two days, I got the doors and drawers installed. I needed those on there for the counter guy to be able to take appropriate measurements. That wasn't too hard but installing the drawers was a pain. The most difficult part was getting in the small spaces and not dropping the screw. But luckily, by the end, I was a pro. I think I'm going to moonlight as an Ikea door and drawer installer.
After that, we kind of took a breather. We did get the cabinetry hardware on which is exciting. I also decided to change up one of the cabinets that was a two-door with shelves. We felt that we needed another drawer so I ordered a drawer and new doors for our base cabinet next to the stove. I think that will really help with storage.
We are also on day 15 with no sink or dishwasher. I didn't even realize it had been so long but that explains my cranky attitude when I go into the kitchen! The exciting thing is that we only have THREE more days to live without a regular countertop, sink, and dishwasher. I got the call on Friday from the granite company to schedule our install. I. CANNOT. WAIT.
One thing I do need to do is find tile for the backsplash. Maybe I will work on that next week. We also need to install our range hood. I did pick it up a couple of weeks ago at Ikea. Just need to get it put up.
